My Favorite Free Agents and Where they would Fit

Published on 25 June 2025 at 16:22

The NBA season has now concluded, with the OKC Thunder winning the Chip, and since the season's over, you know what that means...FREE AGENCY... and trades. We have seen some teams make some trades already, like the Phoenix Suns trading Kevin Durant, or Desmond Bane getting shipped to Orlando. Even though teams can't sign official contracts yet, they are for sure in talks. Now, this offseason isn't an amazing class of Free Agents, but there are a couple of players that you can't get in tonight's Draft, although there are a couple players in the draft whos skill i dont think a free agents could match, if you want to see who i think these prospects are click Down below

Russell Westbrook - Guard / 6'3 /  13.3 pts, 4.9 reb, 6.1 ast.

He only played one season for the Nuggets, but he found his spot as the Sixth Man. Although he's not what he used to be, he would be a great addition to many teams that need leadership, intensity, and playmaking.

Dallas Mavericks - With Kyrie out for a bit, the Mavs need a temporary guard, and Russ could be the perfect fit for the role. He’s an experienced vet who’s proven he deserves a spot on every team he’s been on. With Cooper Flagg coming in, the Mavs are entering 'win-now' mode. With Russ, they can stay competitive with other teams in the West until Kyrie gets healthy. Even when Kyrie returns, Russ coming off the bench would still be a huge help.

Miami Heat - Miami’s had a point guard issue for a few years now, and it’s been pretty clear. Scary Terry and Tyler Herro just aren’t the solution. While I do think Herro is probably the best player on the Heat when he’s hot, he’s not really a pass-first guard. That’s where Russ could really help. He doesn’t need to be the main ball handler to make an impact—when he is, he makes sure others get theirs. Plus, with his intensity and defensive abilities, he’d be a quick and easy fit in the Miami system.

Brook Lopez - Center / 7'1 / 13.0 pts, 5.0 reb, 1.8 ast.

Brook has been with the Bucks since 2018 and played a key role in their 2021 championship run. He’s 37 now, but he’s still been solid the past couple of seasons.

Los Angeles Lakers - After the Lakers collapsed in the playoffs against the T-Wolves, it became pretty clear they need a big man who can actually make an impact on the court. Sorry Jaxson Hayes, but you're just not that guy. Brook Lopez might be a bit slow, but he can stretch the floor, protect the paint, and bring a solid veteran presence. He’s also great at complementing strong, athletic players—just look at what he’s done in Milwaukee.

Boston Celtics - These guys traded Tingus Pingus so they’d have money to re-sign Payton Pritchard... Brook Lopez might not be as versatile as Porzingis, but hey, the budget gets tight.

Ben SimmonsCenter/Gaurd / 6'10 / 5.0 pts, 4.7 reb, 5.6 ast.

Listen, it’s Ben Simmons. This guy has 2 All-Star appearances and made the Eastern Conference Finals. His confidence is shot, but in the right situation, he could start to find himself again.

Golden State Warriors - I know, bit of a crazy take, especially since Ben isn’t much of a shooter. But I think, with Steve Kerr not exactly loving big men, Ben could actually be a perfect fit. He’s a 6'10" guard originally, can guard every position on the court, and he’s a great playmaker. Honestly, I think Kerr and Draymond Green could help Ben get out of his head and turn it up.

Los Angeles Clippers I think Ben showed a few times last year that he still has the ability to play at a high level—just don’t look at his playoff games played... But on a defensive-focused team like the Clippers, Ben fits in really well. He doesn’t need to produce at a high level every night, as long as he plays his role in LA
